Veterans Day: Time to Say Thanks!
Veterans Day is an official holiday, a day set aside to celebrate the men and women who served in our military. Veterans Day marks the anniversary when the Armistice was signed in 1918 ending World War 1—on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
Girl Scouts around the country celebrate Veterans Day by planting flags at veterans’ cemeteries, visiting veterans’ hospitals, participating in parades, decorating banners, holding flag ceremonies, and more. Girl Scouts of Colorado will march in a Veterans Day parade on November 12 with the theme “With Gratitude” and hope female veterans will join them. Some troops will draw posters and write cards of thanks to send to veterans’ homes and VA (Veterans Affairs) medical centers. How will you spread the thanks?
