About the Trip

Set out on an amazing two week hiking challenge throughout Maine and New Hampshire. Explore Maine’s coastal shoreline and trails as you hike along the highest rocky headlands along the Atlantic coastline of the United States and camp in the natural beauty of the crown jewel of the north Atlantic, Acadia National Park; head to the White Mountains on the Maine/New Hampshire border and set foot on the Appalachian Trail, the longest hiking-only footpath in the world, to hike the alpine terrain in the White Mountains; experience the north woods of Maine, setting out on the rugged and challenging end point of the Appalachian trail, culminating in summiting several mountains in Baxter State Park before summiting Maine’s tallest mountain, the majestic Mount Katahdin.

What to Know

  • Participants must be physically fit upon arrival for strenuous outdoor activities and must possess a willingness to have new adventures and try new things including exploring caves, rivers, forests and mountains.
  • Applicants should have the ability to work well with others and enjoy outdoor adventures in a primitive setting.
  • Interest and experience in the outdoors and outdoor activities is required as well as wilderness camping experience (non-car) and basic to intermediate camping skills.
  • Applicants should be comfortable with hiking 5-10 miles a day.

The Dates

July 11-July 24, 2022

You must be between the ages of 13 - 16 at the time of the Destination.

A packing list will be provided after acceptance.

The Cost

Program Fee: $2,075

(The actual cost of this Destination is $2,700, but all girls who participate will receive a $625 scholarship, thanks to a generous grant.)

Program Fee covers all program expenses during the event. It does not include personal spending money or transportation to and from Bangor, Maine (BGR).

A $250 deposit will be due immediately upon acceptance. (It's part of the fee, not in addition to it).
