About the Trip

Girl Scouts of Central Texas is collaborating with EF Tours to offer an amazing cultural and learning experience in Japan. Explore the treasures of Japan past and present, from the bustling streets of Tokyo to the ancient temples of Kyoto. Stroll through sacred shrines, see the Great Buddha in Kamakura, and catch a glimpse of majestic Mount Fuji. Feast on an authentic tempura dinner, learn about the Japanese art of sumo, and enjoy a special overnight stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan.

This trip is an amazing cultural and learning experience for every Girl Scout. Girls who travel on this destination will gain a rich global perspective and appreciation for other cultures while fostering their own independence.

Note: this Destination was rescheduled from 2020, and only has a few spaces left. Applications will be competitive, so make sure to write a detailed essay about why you would like to participate in THIS program specifically!

Where You Go


What to Know

Girls applying to this trip should be interested in new cultural experiences, history, and have a passion for trying new things and meeting new people!  Applicants should also have been away from home before and ideally traveled independently at least one other time. Girls should be willing to travel light and to walk extensively throughout the trip as well as be flexible and open-minded regarding food and meals.

The Dates

July 12-20, 2022

Includes arrival and departure days in Los Angeles.

You must be at least 14 years old at the time of the trip.

What to Bring

Packing list will be provided closer to the trip date and after acceptance.

The Cost

Fee: $5,200

Program Fee includes: round trip airfare from Los Angeles international airport, hotels in each city, all breakfasts and dinners, all entry fees and sightseeing tours in itinerary, transportation, and a full time bilingual tour director and local guides.

Program fee does not include airfare to Los Angeles. You will have to provide your own transportation to LAX. Program fee does not include lunches, tipping (to be collected by your group leader) and souvenir money. Suggested spending amounts will be given upon enrollment.

A $200 non-refundable deposit will be due upon acceptance.
