About the Trip

Experience the program thrill of a lifetime! The Girl Scout Jamboree promises to be adventure-packed with any kind of outdoor activity you can imagine — zip-lining, rappelling, bouldering, mountain biking stand up paddle boarding, and so much more! In addition to high adventure activities, participants will earn Girl Scout badges, enjoy drop-in program stations, and take part in special ceremonies and other social functions.

  • Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council is hosting this experience and has partnered with the National Boy Scouts of America in order to make this opportunity available to girls across the nation.
  • The location is The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. Located approximately hour from Charleston and 15 minutes from Beckley, WV, this state-of-the-art high adventure facility is now the new home of the National Boy Scout Jamboree.
  • This Getaway is open to troops/groups of currently registered Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors (4th-12th grade) and their adults for the 2016-17 membership year.  All adults must also have a current background check on file with their local council.
  • There is extensive walking between the physically challenging activity stations, dining tent, etc. Participants will walk approximately 7 miles per day.  It is suggested that participants start a walking regimen now at home to get ready for the experience.

  • The closest airport to the event location is in Charleston, WV.  Shuttle service will be available for an additional cost.

What to Know

  • This Getaway is open to troops/groups of currently registered Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors (4th-12th grade) and their adults for the 2016-17 membership year.  All adults must also have a current background check on file with their local council. (Note: contact your local council  to determine if it is appropriate for Juniors to travel to this event and be sure to follow your council’s travel guidelines.)

The Cost

Pricing for 2017 Girl Scout Jamboree at the Summit (Troops/Groups in Proper Girl/Adult Ratio):

The girl and adult fee is $300 per person if a $30 non-refundable deposit is made by December 16; if you opt to make a deposit; the balance is due in three $90 installments on March 31, April 30, and May 31, 2017. After Dec. 16, the event fee will be $330 a person until the May 31st final event deadline.

The price includes admission, tents, cots, basic meals, activity equipment, program supplies, facilitator support and a patch.

Note: To register at this price, the troop/group must have at least have the following adult:girl ratios: 2 adults for every 16 Girl Scout Juniors (4th-5th graders) + 1 adult to each 1-8 additional Juniors; 2 adults for 20 Girl Scout Cadettes (6th-8th graders) + 1 adult for each additional 1-10 Cadettes; 2 adults for 24 Girl Scout Seniors (9th-10th graders) + 1 adult for each additional 1-12 Seniors; 2 adults for 24 Girl Scout Ambassadors (11th-12th graders) + 1 adult for each additional 1-12 Ambassadors.
