About the Trip

Walk the elevated forts and towers of historic port cities, take a ferry to Brač Island to knock on the door of a secluded medieval monastery and meet it’s caretaker, kayak on the crystal clear Adriatic Sea along the outer walls of the UNESCO-listed old town of Dubrovnik and snorkel in a secluded cove at sunset, hike on boardwalks along surreal lakes and waterfalls that inspire creativity and wonderment, and explore the many cobblestone streets and quaint shops along the way.

Croatia is a beautiful country with gorgeous coastlines, lush forests, rushing waterfalls, and an ancient history to capture one’s imagination. Together we will explore the many cobblestone streets, hike along boardwalks crossing lakes and waterfalls, and kayak the rivers and coastline of the Adriatic Sea. We’ll visit Brač Island and hike to a secluded monastery, Pustingja Blaca, carved out of the cliffside in the 1500’s. The last monk to live here was an astronomer who left his telescopes and magazines behind for us to sift through. Back on the mainland we’ll continue learning about the history of conflict in this medieval setting through guided walking tours and have many opportunities to taste the local cuisine.

The Republic of Croatia sits along they Adriatic Sea, neighboring the Mediterranean. It’s biodiversity is among the richest in Europe, ranging from forested mountains towering at 6,000ft down to the sandy beaches and coastline speckled with thousands of islands varying in size and inhabitants.
