College Journey!

Let your imagination come alive as you envision using your mind to save the world!

About the Trip

You will be mentored by successful women currently working in STEM careers, exposed to a range of STEM related coursework and receive training on professional skills. The College Journey program is designed to give you the opportunity to visualize yourself pursuing and achieving goals in higher education and/or successful STEM careers, and instills in you the confidence and tools to make your dreams a reality.

You will make memories of a lifetime as you experience life on a college campus, participate in fun, hands on experiments, and get excusive behind the scenes tours of some of the top companies in the area. Network with amazing women who love what they do and want to help others find their perfect career exploring STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers. Complete activities from either the Sow What or Mission Sisterhood Journey, as potentially part of your prerequisites for the GS Gold Award. You’ll select a “major” to focus your STEM classes on. By the end of the week you will know if you dare to dream big, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to!


College Journey’s 5-day workshops is located on-site the University of Texas – Dallas. Girls will imagine having a career that lets them be creative, active, well-paid and change the world for the better through hands on, interactive curriculum based activities facilitated by STEM role models. Utilizing the GS Journeys, explore a variety of STEM careers including electrical engineering, chemical engineering, food science, and much more. Whether this is your first Girl Scout activity or you’re a longtime Girl Scout, it will be a week you will never forget!

All skill and interest levels who want to chart their course to a great future profession. Open mind and a positive attitude. We include those with different physical and/or health restrictions.

The Dates

July 21–26, 2013; $350 (Must be entering 9-12 grade at the time of the event.) Must be 12–17 years old at the time of the event.

What to Bring

Personal clothing & toiletries Linens including towel, washcloth, sheets, blanket Rain jacket Closed toe shoes Once accepted, a detailed list of clothing will be sent.

The Cost

You will need to finance your round trip travel to and from Dallas as well as any extra spending money you wish to bring. Girls can fly into either DFW airport or Love Field if coming by plane. You don't have to complete the Girl Scout destinations application form for this event. Just contact the event sponsor to sign up. You can register online at: Remember to notify your council that you are traveling on a getaway. Council will provide adult chaperones.
