About the Trip

Two Night Adventures: Conquer the Atlantic waves during a 2-hour surfing lesson with seasoned instructors from Fun Seekers. Boards and wetsuits will be provided so just show up at the beach and enjoy. Rather kayak than surf? No problem! Join a 2-hour guided kayak tour through the majestic Nauset marsh, an important and fragile ecosystem. Discover its beauty as trained guides identify ospreys, egrets, herons and other wildlife.

What to Know

Adult Leaders/Advisors must accompany girls.

You don’t have to complete the Girl Scout destinations application form for this event. Just contact the project manager for a registration form and GO!! Remember to notify your council that you are traveling on a getaway.

The Dates

June 20-September 6, 2014; $129 per person

Must be 11–17 years old at the time of the event.

What to Bring

Bathing suit and comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting wet for kayaking.

You’ll get a detailed itinerary, packing suggestions, and information about the hostel prior to your arrival.

The Cost

$129.00 per participant

Two overnights, breakfast each morning, 2-hour surf lesson, including board and wetsuit rental (beach parking fees apply in high season) – OR – 2-hour naturalist guided kayak tour, girls will use tandem kayaks. Transportation to activities not included.

Three Night Option: Can’t make up your mind between surfing and kayaking? Stay three nights and do both! Cost of Three Night Package: $195 per person
Add a naturalist guided field walk to your trip: $95 per group Explore the salt marsh to discover fiddler crabs, rock crabs, and more hiding beneath your feet. Naturalists from the Mass Audubon society will bring necessary equipment and guide your group on a 90 minute journey through the inter-tidal zone. Travel to their beautiful sanctuary in Wellfleet or meet your guide at Boat Meadow, an incredible estuary just a 10 minute walk from the hostel. Field walk may be added to two or three night package.

• Add a service component to your ecology walk. Projects depend on time of year and where efforts are most needed. Tasks include: beach cleanup, removing invasive species, and tagging horseshoe crabs. Guided walks must meet at Wellfleet Sanctuary if group is adding service hours.
