About the Trip

Discover the Copper River Delta, ancestral home of the Eyak people. As a budding biologist, wildlife lover, or present-day explorer, you will find this exciting, breathtaking expedition to be right up your alley.

This fully guided educational adventure is designed to offer equal doses of natural history, cultural awareness, and active adventure. You and 13 of your sister explorers will survey the biodiversity of the local environment, and learn about local research, Eyak history and culture. As you explore the Copper River Delta, you will see and experience the balanced relationship of plants and animals with their physical and biological environment. You will learn through the geology of the region how this unique and diverse environment came to be. You may also have an opportunity to work on a project with a local biologist, if available during your visit.

The Dates

July 23 - 31, 2014; $2575 for land*

Must be 15–18 years old at the time of the event.

*Plus airfare from your home city to Anchorage, Alaska. Note July 31 is arrival-back-home day, flights out are on July 30.

The Cost

$2575 for land plus airfare from your home city to Anchorage, Alaska. Note July 31 is arrival-back-home day, flights out are on July 30.

A $200 deposit will be due immediately upon acceptance to the event. (It is part of the event fee, not in addition to it.)

Beverages with meals consist of teas, juices, and/or tap water (all bottled water is extra). Please note that on the arrival day, there will be no meals and on departure day only breakfast will be provided.

You will be responsible for your own round-trip airfare to Anchorage as well as your spending money.

Air Reservations: Holbrook can assist with booking your flight to Anchorage. Contact Wendy Frazier at wendy@holbrooktravel.com. Arrival must be by 5:00 p.m. on July 23 and depart on July 30 after 5:00 p.m.

Land cost includes: mandatory travel/trip cancellation insurance, all accommodations, transportation, expert local guide, activities, and all meals except on arrival day and departure day (only breakfast).

Group orientation will take place in Anchorage, Alaska.
