About the Trip

Come to Nuestra Cabaña, the place where dreams come true, and welcome the new year with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from other countries, while building lifelong friendships. You’ll spend 5 nights in the comfortable Nuestra Cabaña dormitory rooms. You’ll take trips into the historic cities of Cuernavaca and Taxco, a city famed for its silver jewelry production and Spanish colonial architecture. You will also have the opportunity to help in a community service project and learn about Mexican culture.

Our Cabaña is one of the WAGGGS’ five World Centres and is located in the “City of Eternal Spring” – Cuernavaca, Mexico. Set over 5 acres of land, with 7 beautiful gardens representing the rich flora of Mexico, at Our Cabaña you will also find a dining hall where you can taste international food, as well as a “Craft House” to explore your artistic creativity through Mexican craft-making. In the “City of Eternal Spring”, where there are 365 days of glorious sunshine per year, enjoy the beautiful recreational areas of the Our Cabaña campus, which include a swimming pool, volleyball and tennis courts, campfire circles and much more!

To participate in this Destination, you should:
- have an interest in exploring other cultures through history, architecture, and the outdoors
- be open-minded
- be good at working in teams
- Spanish-speaking skills a “plus” (not required)

The Dates

December 29, 2018 - January 6, 2019

You must be 13 - 18 years old at the time of the Destination.

What to Bring

No special equipment or gear needed.
Packing list will be provided after acceptance.

The Cost

Program Fee: $1,500 (The actual program fee for this Destination is $2,000, but all girls who participate will receive a $500 scholarship, through a generous gift from the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund.)

Program Fee includes: all meals, accommodations, tours, and round-trip airfare to Mexico from Charlotte, NC.

Program Fee does not include airfare to Charlotte. You will have to provide your own transportation to and from Charlotte.

A $200 non-refundable deposit is due upon acceptance.
