The Tiny Mouse with the Big Ears
Author Kate DiCamillo likes to write about impossible circumstances. Such as the china rabbit that finds itself on the bottom of an ocean floor in The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Or the tiny mouse with exceptionally large ears driven by love to become an unlikely hero in The Tale of Despereaux.
A bit like Desperaux, Kate is driven by her love for storytelling. “I tell stories because telling stories helps me make sense out of the world,” she shares. “I think of myself as an enormously lucky person to get to tell stories for a living.” Which is why she faithfully writes two pages a day, five days a week.
