The 100th celebration continues! Madame Tussauds wax museum in Washington, D.C., has added a full-size figure of our founder, Juliette Gordon Low, to the Presidents Gallery. Dozens of D.C.-area Girl Scout Daisies were on hand last month for the unveiling of the wax figure, which shows Low in full uniform with hat, tie, and trefoil pin.
Museum artists worked for six months to create the lifelike form, studying numerous photographs of Daisy Low in an attempt to make her figure as accurate as possible. As part of the painstaking process, each hair was inserted individually and layers of oil-based paint were applied to create realistic skin color and texture.
And because the hands-on exhibit is interactive, Girl Scouts can step right up and get their picture snapped with the historic woman who still has a major impact on their life today!
