New Interactive Map Shows How Girl Scouts Change the World

Apr 04, 2012

Want to find out how other Girl Scouts are changing the world? Want to tell others how you’re making the world a better place?

Then check out Map It! Girls Changing the World, our new interactive map that shows what girls around the country are doing for their Take Action, Bronze, Silver, and Gold award projects.

Map It! launched with 200 project entries, all written by girls! For instance, two Wisconsin Girl Scouts earned their Bronze Award by stenciling “No Dumping” signs on local sewer drains. A Girl Scout in Utah researched melanoma cancer to earn her Bronze Award.

How does it work? First, select “click here to view the map.” When it’s up, you’ll see an icon representing each project on the map. Click on the icon to open a window that gives details about the project.

You can also search for a specific project. Just go to the top menu bar and scroll down to select a “project type,” “age level,” and “issue addressed,” then click “filter” to view your choices on the map.

Want to submit your award project for consideration for a Map It! posting? Simply click on “tell us about your project here,” and follow the directions.
