Money Matters

Apr 19, 2013

IYB Galia Gichon Entrepreneur videoApril is National Financial Literacy Month. So, what do girls really think about money? This week, the Girl Scout Research Institute released a new study sharing what they learned.

Here are two of their findings:

• 90 percent of the girls asked said that it’s important to learn how to manage money

• But only 12 percent feel “very confident” making financial decisions

Whether they run restaurants or make smartphone apps, the female entrepreneurs featured in our It’s Your Business—Run It! video series say that learning how to manage money is the thing that allows them to run successful businesses and have the career of their dreams.

Most had to start with the basics, like learning about budgets and credit cards (learn more about this from financial planner Galia Gichon). These are the things that girls told researchers they need to know more about.

But there is so much more to learn. Check out the other videos on our It’s Your Business—Run It! playlist for helpful advice from enterprising women who are making it work.
