Outdoors Week Begins Today!
Over the next few days, For Girls will be celebrating all the wonderful things we love about this time of year, whether it’s hiking a new trail or learning more about some of the tiniest creatures in our own backyards!
First up, let’s cover a couple of the basics. If you’re hiking or camping, check out our guide on how to use a compass and watch this video about a troop of Juniors from Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, who explain how to pitch a tent.
Throughout the week, we’ve got new activities for Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes that might start at your computer but will eventually take you out into the world to help you earn a badge or two.
Here’s some of what you can look forward to:
- Brownies can go online and find out what kind of bugs they will find near them and then explore their neighborhood park and see if they can locate them.
- Juniors can hit the trail or even a nearby park and catalog the local flowers.
- Cadettes can embark on a “Tree Safari” and take a quiz to help them prepare for their first overnight hike.
