International Day of the Girl
Oct 11, 2012
Last year, the United Nations passed a resolution to declare October 11 a day to help promote “worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives, providing an opportunity to show them leadership and reach their full potential.”
Today is the first anniversary. All year, girls around the country (and the world) have been working to get their city and town councils to declare October 11 the Day of the Girl at the local level.

If you’re over 13, you can also check out the Day of the Girl Virtual Summit, which will bring together girls from around the world. Read why your peers all over the globe think it’s important that we have a Day of the Girl, and tell them what you think too.
