In the Driver’s Seat

When one of the founders of Google put out a challenge to come up with a business idea that would positively impact a billion people over 10 years, Jessica Scorpio thought of something that almost everyone does: drives. “Transportation is a sector that impacts almost everyone on the planet,” she says. “I’ve never owned a car, so this is something that I knew a lot of young people would love and need.”

That’s how Getaround, Jessica’s San Francisco–based company, was born. Getaround connects drivers who aren’t using their cars with people who need to rent a car for a small amount of time.
